Too Needy
Dear Dr. Ava
Q & A, Single Women
by Dr. Ava Cadell
Too Needy
Question: I’ve been dating this guy for about four months now and even though I really do like him, he gets more and more “clingy” with each passing day. As an example, we’ll go out on a Friday night and he’ll spend the night and usually just end up hanging around my house until Sunday morning. I’ve tried just telling him I have other things to do and I can’t just hang out with him all weekend, but he acts so hurt. What are your thoughts on this?
Answer: It’s obvious that this is a one-sided relationship. You grow impatient because you’ve used him for your own gratification and want to move on to greener pastures. He appears to enjoy your company more than you enjoy his. He is possibly in love with you and wants to spend time with you, but since that’s not where you are coming from, do him a favor, and move on. You are already hurting him emotionally so to continue the relationship would be unhealthy for both of you. End it!
