American Association of Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT)
The American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) is a not-for-profit, interdisciplinary professional organization. In addition to sexuality educators, sex counselors, and sex therapists, AASECT members include physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, allied health professionals, clergy members, lawyers, sociologists, marriage and family counselors and therapists, family planning specialists and researchers, as well as students in relevant professional disciplines. These individuals share an interest in promoting understanding of human sexuality and healthy sexual behavior. Dr. Ava is an AASECT Certified Sex Counselor. |

 Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality
Dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about sexuality, the SSSS was founded in 1957 to encourage the rigorous systematic study of sexuality. More than 1,000 individuals hold membership in this non-profit professional membership organization. The strength of the Society is the range of disciplines represented by its members, conference participants, and journal authors. Membership includes anthropologists, biologists, educators, historians, nurses, physicians, psychologists, sociologists, theologians, therapists, and many other disciplines.
With a strong commitment to "the next generation" through the support of a vigorous student membership program, a broad range of committee activity provides numerous opportunities for the involvement of members in the work of the Society. The Society's award program recognizes professional excellence, public service and service to The Society. Dr. Ava is a current SSSS member.

 American Mental Health Counselors Association
AMHCA enhances the profession of mental health counseling through licensing, advocacy, education, and professional development. This national organization represents licensed mental health counselors and state chapters, with consistent standards of education, training, licensing, practice, advocacy, and ethics.
AMHCA members are dedicated to the principles in their Code of Ethics. As the profession and the needs of our clients change, a committee of respected peers updates the code.

 The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA)
A national labor union representing over 70,000 performers, journalists, and other artists working in the entertainment and news media, AFTRA's membership includes an array of talent - sound recording membership includes artists who bring the vocal arts to the world. AFTRA's scope of representation covers broadcast, public and cable television (news, sports and weather; drama and comedy, soaps, talk and variety shows, documentaries, children's programming, reality and game shows); radio (news, commercials, hosted programs); sound recordings (CDs, singles, Broadway cast albums, audio books); "non-broadcast" and industrial material as well as Internet and digital programming. Dr. Ava is a member of AFTRA.

 State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences
The Mission of the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) is to protect the well being of Californians by setting standards for mental health professionals through effective communication, education, examination, licensing, and enforcement. The BBS is responsible for consumer protection through the regulation of Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT); Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW); Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEP); MFT Interns; and Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASW) in the State of California. It is one of the boards within the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Dr. Ava is an active BBS CEU provider.

 Screen Actors Guild (SAG)
SAG is the nation’s premier labor union representing actors. Established in 1933, SAG has a rich history in the American labor movement, from standing up to studios to break long-term engagement contracts in the 1940s to fighting for artists’ rights amid the digital revolution of the 21st century. With 20 branches nationwide, SAG represents nearly 120,000 actors in film, television, industrials, commercials, and music videos. The Guild exists to enhance actors’ working conditions, compensation, and benefits and to be a powerful, unified voice on behalf of artists’ rights. SAG is a proud affiliate of the AFL-CIO. Dr. Ava is a member of SAG.

 The British Actors Union (EQUITY)
Equity is the only Trade Union to represent artists from across the entire spectrum of arts and entertainment. Formed in 1930 by a group of West End of London performers, Equity quickly spread to encompass the whole range of professional entertainment so its membership includes actors, singers, dancers, choreographers, stage managers, theatre directors and designers, variety and circus artists, television and radio presenters, walk-on and supporting artists, stunt performers and directors, and theatre fight directors. Dr. Ava is a member of British Equity.

 Board of Registered Nursing
The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) regulates the practice of registered nursing and certified advanced practice nurses in order to protect the public health, safety and welfare. The Board exists to protect the health and safety of consumers and promote quality registered nursing care in California. Since 1978, California registered nurses have been required to document completion of continuing education courses as a way of supporting their continued competency to practice. The requirement is that RNs complete a minimum of 30 contact hours every two years in subjects relevant to the practice of nursing. Courses must be taken from providers approved by or from other entities recognized by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
