Question: Like millions of other men all over the world, I thank the Gods of Porn for the invention of the internet. Ever since about 1998, barely a day goes by that I don’t go online and look at porn to pleasure myself. My question is -- at what point is someone addicted to porn? What’s the difference between being an internet porn enthusiast and a junkie? I mean, it seems like every guy I know (and I’m 36) yanks his Jehovah’s Witness while looking at online porn.
Answer: To establish if you are a porn addict, answer the following questions: 1. Do you think about porn so often that it interferes with your concentration? 2. Are you obsessed with watching a specific sexual act? 3. Are you finding your internet porn pursuits affect your ability to manage your life? 4. Would life have no meaning without porn? 5. Do you use porn as an escape from other problems or stress? 6. Do you need the "high" that porn and the risk of being caught can promise? If your answer to all these questions is "yes," then you are a porn addict and suffer from sexual compulsion. If you answered “no” to 2 or more, then continue to enjoy your porn and yank your Jehovah’s Witness, but remember that too much of a good thing can be harmful.
