Ahead With Horses Charity

This is a charity that has 28 years of history providing unique, highly motivating therapy to children who have severe and multiple disabilities through horses.

The relationship between disabled children, therapeutic riding instructors, volunteers and special therapy horses is the catalyst to miracles in handicapped lives. Ahead with Horses is about children who reach beyond the confines of their disabilities because of the intervention of this very special team.

The horses’ rhythmic movement naturally moves the body in a manner similar to the human gait, improving posture, balance and muscle control, simultaneously motivating movement, exploration and touch while increasing attention span.

Often, learning to walk or talk begins only after children have participated in the program. These astounding results increase self-sufficiency and the ability to lead better and more independently productive lives.

AHWH recently lost all of their city funding and are in desperate need of funds in order to continue helping the children.

You can help by donating money to keep AHWH going, sponsoring a child, becoming a volunteer, attending charity fundraisers with Actor William Shatner, donating items for auctions, providing toys for the children and by attending the annual AHWH Fun Day Event in June when the children put on a heartfelt demonstration. You’re your help; hopefully there will be another Fun Day in 2008.

Dr. Ava has been a volunteer for over 20 years and seen miraculous results as disabled children have improved physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
